I installed a ceiling fan, but does not work. Nothing happens when I flip the switch. What can happen?
My husband and I work all day installing a ceiling fan with light kit in our bedroom. We went to a Lowe's workshop before trying it. His was a light / fan there before, but it was prewired with a green wire, black wire, red wire and white wire. We connect the fan with all matching colors, except red went with the blue (Illumination) wire of the fan. We have everything set up, and nothing! Not a flicker of light or whirl of a fan. There is a switch in our bedroom that does nothing, So I figured I would switch. A foot above is an empty plate that has the wiring behind it, but no switch. Could this be for fan operation? Would we need an electrician to set that up for us? Could this change is not operable because the fan and light not working? Moreover, it seems pre-wired for a ceiling fan, as there were two wires, does that mean that was created to support the weight of a fan? How I can know? Thanks for the info!
